Hearing aids

Your ability to hear is crucial to your well-being and health. Every day you have conversations, get phone calls, watch television, listen to music, go to the movies, or listen to nature, among many other things. The world is full of sounds, and being unable to hear them can affect your life.

Why Do I Need a Hearing Aid?

Fortunately, most hearing loss issues can be improved through various types of hearing aids. Through a hearing aid, many people are able to enjoy conversations with family and friends without having to ask them to speak louder or repeat what they have just said. They can enjoy watching the television without the sound turned up too high and answer phone calls confidently. Probably the most important of all, they can hear any warning signals, alarms, and calls for help.

How Much Does a Hearing Device Cost?

At a typical hearing test centre, a basic model of a hearing device may cost anywhere from $1500. However, if you qualify for the HSP (Hearing Services Program) you may avail of it for free. When you are quoted a price for hearing aids, it is typically for a pair of hearing aids.

The more features a hearing device has, the more it will cost. HSP-eligible individuals can avail of them at a reduced cost. As hearing aids' price differs depending on the brand, features, and device model, it is best to visit your hearing centre and inquire.

What Does Hearing Aids Price Include?

It is important to note that the price of hearing aids is only for the devices. The services involved in the fitting of the aids are billed separately.

A basic fitting may cost around $280, which may include the initial fitting, one appointment for fine-tuning, and complimentary loan hearing aids.

A complete care package may cost around $695 but includes as many appointments as may be required for 12 months, a certain number of batteries free for a year, and a free hearing retest at the hearing test centre after 12 months.
